Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to oversee our engineering team. Ideal candidates will possess a Professional Engineering License (PE) and have substantial experience in Mechanical/HVAC Systems Design, along with a track record of mentoring junior engineers and engaging with clients.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida, or eligibility for reciprocity. PE License Preferred but Not Required.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and design, including HVAC, Boilers, Chillers, and CHP systems.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while leading a team and design staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective oral and written communication
  • Experience in designing Mechanical/HVAC systems for various sectors, including academic, biotech, commercial, healthcare, and municipal projects
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk, energy/load simulation, and Microsoft Office
Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing project management to achieve objectives; planning, organizing, and leading technical projects and teams
  • Building and maintaining client relationships; acting as a liaison between clients, agencies, subcontractors, and the design team
  • Identifying and implementing cost-effective solutions for clients; participating in project pursuits and interviews
  • Ensuring timely delivery of accurate and complete project documentation; assisting with construction administration tasks, including RFIs and site visits
  • Designing and producing documents to meet project timelines, including equipment sizing, ductwork, and piping; maintaining a strong knowledge of codes and mechanical/HVAC industry standards
  • Reviewing mechanical documents for conflicts with other disciplines; coordinating with architects, interior designers, team engineers, and specialty sub-consultants
  • Conducting quality assurance and quality control on the work of other mechanical engineers and technicians
