Facilities Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Director to join our team at Maine School Administrative District #6. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all daily activities related to the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of our school buildings, auxiliary buildings, utility systems, mechanical systems, school grounds, and other physical facilities.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance and repair program to ensure the upkeep of all school facilities.
• Supervise and manage a team of maintenance staff to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of maintenance services.
• Coordinate and manage all construction and renovation projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, local, state, and national building codes, air and water quality standards, and environmental laws.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and the community.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned by the Business Manager or Superintendent of Schools.

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical college or apprenticeship training in the building trades.
• Minimum of eight years progressively responsible supervisory experience in the commercial construction industry, construction project management, and/or maintenance supervision.
• Experience working in a public-school setting is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in written and oral communication before groups of customers or employees of the District.

The Facilities Director will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to make sound judgments and decisions. The Facilities Director will be required to work in confined spaces, tiring and uncomfortable positions, and to travel to multiple job locations in the course of the day.
