JOB SUMMARY

The Cannabis Cultivation Lead oversees the daily operations of a designated phase of cannabis production, ensuring compliance with the standards established by AW Holdings. This role provides essential support to all cultivation personnel, including managing schedules, facilitating training, updating policies and procedures, and ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. The position is accountable for maintaining the highest quality of work in cultivation, ensuring facility compliance, and upholding cleanliness in line with state regulations and company standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Cultivation Manager and Assistant Cultivation Manager in supervising and guiding cultivation staff, managing grow schedules, cultivation methodologies, inventory control, and vendor relationships.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for cultivation staff regarding products and services, policies and procedures, and updates in regulations.
  • Support the Cultivation Manager and Assistant Cultivation Manager in addressing cultivation staff inquiries, concerns, or suggestions, and take necessary actions to resolve conflicts.
  • Supervise proper cultivation techniques, including but not limited to transplanting, pruning, defoliating, watering, and feeding.
  • Delegate tasks to cultivation associates to ensure a compliant and sanitary cultivation environment.
  • Oversee daily cultivation activities and processes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all relevant activities in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and overseeing product development transitions by ensuring that tasks are executed properly and that environmental conditions support the cultivation of high-quality products in line with company standards.
  • Maintain equipment functionality and facility condition, performing minor repairs and reporting larger issues to the Assistant Cultivation Manager.
  • Manage supply inventory, orders, and deliveries to maintain efficient levels of all cultivation inputs and supplies.
  • As directed, keep precise records of all cultivation activities, including employee records, inventory logs, deliveries, and returns in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all state regulations and prepare necessary documentation as required.
  • Coach and develop Cultivation Technicians, providing ongoing developmental feedback.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A 2-year degree in horticulture or agriculture, or equivalent experience in horticultural or agricultural production is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a hydroponic vegetable production or bedding plant production facility is desired.
  • Experience with grow data acquisition.
  • Knowledge in designing nutrient mixes.
  • Familiarity with automated environmental control systems.
  • Understanding of horticultural practices, including plant cloning.
  • Ability to identify and address plant disease issues.
  • Capability to recognize and rectify suboptimal nutrient conditions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of indoor hydroponic cultivation practices, cannabis life cycles, common cannabis pests, and compliance requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and pass all required pre-employment screenings.
  • Thorough understanding of all applicable laws, regulations, and requirements to maintain 100% compliance at all times, including staying updated on any changes to current laws/regulations.
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Must comply with all regulatory requirements for working in the cannabis industry.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Registered Agent Card issued by the state of operation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Must demonstrate focus and attention to detail.
  • Ability to internalize training and follow instructions is necessary.
  • Effective communication skills are required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
