Job Title: Nuclear Licensing Specialist

Join the Pennsylvania State University team as a Nuclear Licensing Specialist and play a critical role in the success of the Frontier project. This exciting opportunity is part of the Environmental Health and Safety Department within the Office of Physical Plant.

About the Role:

The Nuclear Licensing Specialist will be responsible for leading the University's regulatory engagement on the Frontier project, working closely with licensing professionals in project stakeholder organizations. This includes supporting planned project(s) with the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, facilitating and supporting document exchanges, and assisting with licensing aspects of PSU project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the University's regulatory engagement on the Frontier project
  • Support planned project(s) with the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission
  • Facilitate and support document exchanges and submissions to the regulator
  • Assist with licensing aspects of PSU project management
  • Monitor and review Regulatory documents related to microreactors, research reactors, and other related technologies and projects
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, or related field
  • 6 years of experience in a technical field, with 8-10+ years of experience preferred
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in nuclear or radiological licensing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork skills

We offer a competitive salary range of $86,300.00 - $129,500.00 and a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work alongside attendance at United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission and University meetings/workshops.

Please note that this is a limited-term appointment funded for two years from the date of hire, with possibility of renewal. Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
