Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Aviation Systems Technology Instructor to join our team at Guilford Technical Community College. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the Aviation Systems Technology program, providing a high-quality learning experience that prepares students for successful careers in the aviation industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop curriculum for Aviation Systems Technology courses, including aircraft and trainer operations, maintenance, and repair.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students, helping them to achieve their academic and career goals.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and other faculty members to develop and implement training programs that meet the needs of the aviation industry.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Aviation or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License.
  • Three years of experience in the aviation industry, with a minimum of two years of teaching or training experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with students, faculty, and industry partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Aviation or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes and curriculum development.
  • Ability to teach online or hybrid courses.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and developing inclusive learning environments.
Working Conditions

The Aviation Systems Technology Instructor will work in a fast-paced environment, teaching and mentoring students in a variety of settings, including classrooms, laboratories, and aircraft hangars. The Instructor will also be required to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with faculty and staff to achieve departmental and institutional goals.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a dynamic environment, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities. The Instructor will also be required to maintain a professional demeanor and communicate effectively with students, faculty, and industry partners.

The Aviation Systems Technology Instructor will be required to work a standard 40-hour workweek, with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. The Instructor will also be required to participate in professional development activities, including conferences, workshops, and online courses.
