Position Overview

This role is integral to the enrollment management team, encompassing a comprehensive array of admission duties. Responsibilities include extensive recruitment travel, conducting interviews, and showcasing the University to diverse audiences through various formats. The position requires personalized engagement with prospective students, their families, and educational advisors, alongside the assessment of applications for admission to St. Mary's University and its nursing program.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct visits to secondary schools, community colleges, and other educational institutions within the designated territory, informed by historical data and supervisor input.
  • Represent the University at admission-related programs and events, both on and off-campus.
  • Review and evaluate applications for admission, analyzing qualifications and making informed decisions regarding admissibility.
  • Assess college/university transcripts for credit equivalencies and collaborate with the Registrar's Office and the Rattler Success Center.
  • Engage in interviews with prospective students and their families, providing accurate information about admission criteria, academic programs, student life, financial aid, and associated costs.
  • Implement follow-up strategies, including written and electronic communications as well as phone outreach.
  • Plan and execute special projects aligned with the office's goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, assess outcomes, conduct cost analyses, and develop improved strategies to meet objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on special projects aimed at achieving established enrollment targets.
  • Work closely with admissions leadership to develop, implement, and assess the university's strategic recruitment plan, utilizing enrollment data in decision-making.
  • Collaborate with nursing program leadership and faculty to ensure enrollment targets for nursing are met.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in admission/enrollment management or related fields is preferred. Experience in nursing or health professions admissions, student services, or public relations is advantageous.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance are required; reliable transportation for daily business is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation is mandatory.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office and Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint) is essential, along with familiarity with virtual platforms like Zoom. Experience with Technolutions, Slate CRM, and Banner software is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial, alongside strong public relations and customer service abilities. The capacity to exercise diplomacy and discretion is essential.
  • High ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality are required, along with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to organize workflow, coordinate activities, and manage multiple projects without loss of efficiency are vital.
  • A commitment to understanding St. Mary's dedication to educational excellence, diversity, social service, and the liberal arts and sciences is preferred. Knowledge of the university's culture and the ability to communicate its mission to prospective students and families is advantageous.
  • Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred, with the ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking individuals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is conducted in an office environment and on university grounds. Ability to navigate the campus for daily responsibilities is necessary.
  • Must be able to present and engage with various audiences, both online and in-person, for extended periods.
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear, both in person and via telephone, and to use hands repetitively for standard office tasks. Occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent communication with others using approved technological resources is necessary, ensuring accurate information exchange in a timely manner.
  • Constant operation of a computer and other office productivity equipment is required.
