About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Specialist to join our team at dsm-firmenich. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and equipment for our chemical plant manufacturing areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mechanical design expertise and equipment layout support for modifications to existing systems and installation of new systems.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design documents for the installation of mechanical piping and distribution systems according to engineers supplied conceptual design or project scope.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design documents for the installation of instrument systems according to engineers supplied conceptual design or Project Engineer's scope.
  • During the projects' construction phase, function as field engineer, providing clarifications to all requests for information from either dsm-firmenich's engineering team or outside contractors.
  • Prepare and issue to the field detailed design revisions of documentation to correct design errors/omissions and/or to reflect engineers' requested changes.
  • Implement changes to P&ID drawings from process change notifications (PCN).
  • Drive and implement the virtualization of the plant using AutoCAD 3D and 3D scanning.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a High School diploma, Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in plant design and ACAD software.
  • Capability to apply virtualization concepts to 3D modelling.
  • Ability to prepare design concepts through technical drawings utilizing dsm-firmenich standard specifications, and National design standards.
  • Experience in using National Symbols and Identification in design.
  • Demonstrated specific expertise in the design of the instrument portion of P&ID's, equipment specification and layout.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office: ACAD, MS Word, MS Excel, CMMS, DMS.
