Job Summary

Grand Targhee Resort is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Alpine Ski Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our Ski & Snowboard School, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional lessons to adult and children's groups, promoting our resort programs, and providing outstanding guest service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction: Deliver high-quality lessons to adult and children's groups, adhering to established teaching standards and methods.
  • Program Promotion: Actively promote Ski & Snowboard School and resort programs to guests, ensuring a positive and engaging experience.
  • Training and Development: Participate in ongoing resort and Ski & Snowboard School training to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Communication: Attend department communication meetings to stay informed and contribute to team discussions.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all rules, regulations, and safety protocols outlined in the Ski & Snowboard School Manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility with working hours, including potential job sharing arrangements.
Responsibilities to Safety
  • Personal Safety: Protect the safety of yourself, colleagues, and resort guests at all times.
  • Equipment and Situations: Report any potentially hazardous equipment or situations to your supervisor without delay.
  • Incident Reporting: Report safety-related accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately.
  • Safety Policies: Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate equipment in a safe manner that does not pose a risk to yourself or others.
  • Driving: Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, you must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Education and Experience: A high school education or up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Level 1 PSIA certification, current with clinic hours and paid dues.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Skiing and Snowboarding: Position requires skiing and/or snowboarding ability.
