Job Summary

The Associate Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry provides support to the Director for Youth and Young Adult Ministry, advancing the archdiocesan vision and mission in middle school ministry, high school ministry, young adult ministry, and preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead formation initiatives, workshops, and trainings for parish ministry leaders.
  • Communicate with parish leaders to offer support, formation, and training opportunities.
  • Create and manage content for communications to parish leaders and relevant audiences.
  • Work with the Office of Communications to ensure information is posted regularly.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date contact information for parish leadership in youth and young adult ministry.
  • Collaborate with the Director to identify current programs and models used in parish youth ministry.
  • Develop and maintain local partnerships and relationships with Lay Ecclesial Movements and internal and external Church organizations.
  • Serve as a resource and guide for pastors and parish ministers on specific parish needs or concerns related to ministry with youth and young adults.
  • Keep data/records related to parish connections and formation.
  • Promote and implement best practices in specialized areas.
  • Lead or support events connected to ministry with youth and young adults as assigned by the Director.
  • Offer formation to Deacons and at Mexican American Catholic College.
  • Create ministerial content to engage relevant audiences through established platforms.
  • Identify pastoral needs of ministry leaders and respond appropriately.
  • Ensure the mission, vision, values, and priorities of the archdiocese are communicated clearly and carried out effectively.
  • Regularly engage in personal growth, professional development, theological study, prayer, charity, and justice work, and spiritual formation.
  • Foster a "Pastoral Conjunto" environment by leading by example, resolving issues, and making sound decisions.
  • Adhere to safety training and protocols and take precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others.
  • Protect the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy.
  • Take a solution-oriented approach in interactions and undertakings and promote collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in any area of ministry or related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in parish youth ministry development and evaluation.
  • Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and valid vehicle insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
  • Bi-cultural background to recognize and engage different social realities and challenges.
  • Excellence in organizational management, setting and achieving goals, and managing a budget.
  • Past success working with committees and cultivating existing committee member relationships.
  • Strong public relations skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, and mission-driven.
  • Experience with computer software and thorough proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Keen sense of missionary spirit and missionary zeal.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and able to work well independently and on a team.
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
