Pay Range: $18.00 per hour

About this role:

This position acts as a key figure in guiding kitchen personnel by providing direction and actively engaging in the preparation, cooking, presentation, and serving of nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to established protocols and schedules. The role ensures that all food is prepared and served safely and attractively, while also overseeing the sanitation of kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances to meet health regulations. Additionally, it involves monitoring kitchen inventory and food supplies to maintain adequate levels.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing menus and procuring necessary food and supplies for the preparation and serving of healthy meals.
  • Overseeing and participating in the cleaning, cooking, and preparation of a diverse range of foods and beverages using kitchen tools and supplies, following accepted and cost-effective cooking practices.
  • Maintaining organized kitchen stock and inventory to fulfill kitchen requirements; ordering, receiving, and processing food purchases while ensuring invoice accuracy for further processing.
  • Managing all USDA documentation and ensuring compliance with USDA audits and recommendations, including tracking food counts for staff meals and maintaining all necessary records.
Qualifications we seek:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in meal planning, purchasing, and cooking for large groups, with supervisory experience.
  • Alternatively, any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • ServSafe certification is required (Manager certification preferred).
  • A valid State Driver's License.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This role is performed in a standard kitchen setting, where there may be minor physical discomforts associated with working near hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers. The facility is multi-level and accessed by stairs. The Kitchen Supervisor is considered essential personnel, requiring attendance during adverse weather conditions and emergency situations as determined by leadership.
