Job Summary

The Prior Authorization Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating patient and physician requests for diagnostic imaging and transfusion services within the Ancillary Support department at CharterCARE Health Partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and address special needs, including physical, language, or other barriers, to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Obtain and maintain accurate insurance, billing, and hospital information, as well as admit patients and track statistics according to protocol.
  • Effectively coordinate multiple appointments, procedures, and referral requests with staff and resources, utilizing relevant software.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare insurances, prior authorization services, and ICD coding, consistently meeting productivity requirements and achieving a 96% or greater accuracy rate.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; College Degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Experience in a high-volume call center required; experience in a healthcare environment preferred, with a focus on diagnostic imaging prior authorization.
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows environment, with proficiency in medical terminology, healthcare insurances, and ancillary testing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, delivering excellent customer service, and communicating effectively with patients, physicians, and staff.
Working Conditions

The Prior Authorization Coordinator will work in a general pleasant environment with minimal distractions or exposure to unpleasant elements. The role requires manual skills, including finger, eye, and hand dexterity, and involves sitting at a desk for most of the day.
