Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Research & Development and Manufacturing to utilize structured processes for introducing new products and concepts.
  • Aid in planning capital equipment budgets and specifications to enhance existing production methods and innovate new products.
  • Work alongside a skilled, cross-functional team to expand your expertise in the industry.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to strategically plan and develop new products while addressing various production challenges.
  • Utilize statistical software to analyze data and present findings in clear, comprehensible formats.
  • Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of new material compounds to achieve productivity and business goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production processes to enhance rates, properties, and reduce waste by leveraging laboratory equipment and coordinating trials on pilot and production equipment.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with suppliers to stay informed about new machinery and raw materials.
  • Support the development and testing of projects outside of extrusion, such as print rolls and injection molding.
  • Calculate costs associated with formulations and materials for management review in new and existing products.
  • Participate in trade shows, training seminars, and classes to keep skills current and learn about advancements in equipment and processes.
  • May represent the company in trade association meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all team members and supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by your manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in process engineering, preferably in polymer injection molding and extrusion.
  • Knowledge of polymer chemistry and its manufacturing processes.
  • Six Sigma certification and familiarity with methodologies such as DOE, DMAIC, and FMEA are preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively to address complex challenges.
  • Proven capability to make data-driven decisions and identify root causes of production issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills, leadership qualities, and a solid understanding of product knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions and manage multiple variables.
  • Skills in defining problems, collecting data, and building consensus among diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated project management and communication skills to lead impactful technical projects.
  • Proficient in communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships across the organization.

Work Environment

The work environment typically features moderate noise levels in the office, with occasional travel to manufacturing facilities. At these facilities, conditions may include elevated noise levels and exposure to various elements. Personal protective equipment may be required while on-site.
