We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced educator to join our team as a High School Science Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic services to extend, enrich, and accelerate the standard course of study for gifted and talented students.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Services: Provide direct instructional services to gifted and talented students, extending and accelerating the standard course of study in accordance with the local AIG plan.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Model problem-solving and higher-order thinking skills, and demonstrate instructional innovations through push-in and pull-out instructional delivery.
- Assessment and Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret gifted learner tests and performance data, and share the results with relevant stakeholders.
- Program Development and Implementation: Maintain and implement current AIG initiatives and instructional methodologies to provide cognitively challenging experiences to students.
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate system-wide and school-specific AIG program information to all relevant stakeholders.
- Professional Development: Attend AIG district meetings and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in gifted education.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in education.
- Experience: Five years of experience as a teacher.
- Certification and License: Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina professional educators license in an elementary or middle-grade content teaching area.
The successful candidate will be able to work in a school environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, and the public. Travel is required among WCPSS schools and central services locations.
