About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Mathematics Instructor to join our faculty at Saint Mary's School. As a Mathematics Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching 5 sections of math, designing student-centered curriculum, and promoting student agency. You will also be expected to be an enthusiastic and contributing member of the academic team, utilizing technology as a teaching tool to maximize student learning.

Responsibilities
  • Teach 5 sections of math, including algebra, geometry, and calculus
  • Design and implement student-centered curriculum that promotes student agency and critical thinking
  • Utilize technology to enhance student learning and engagement
  • Provide differentiated instruction for all students, including those with special needs
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues through regular progress reports and parent-teacher conferences
  • Participate in departmental and school-wide initiatives to promote academic excellence and student success
  • Assist with monitoring and proctoring students in various academic settings, including standardized testing and study hall
  • Help with co- and extra-curricular programs, including coaching a sport or coordinating activities
  • Serve as an advisor to students and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Engage in regular professional learning opportunities to maintain licensure and accreditation
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics or education
  • Five years of teaching experience, preferably in an independent high school setting
  • Experience teaching mathematics at multiple levels, including algebra, geometry, and calculus
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative, student-centered curriculum that prioritizes cutting-edge research
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities
  • Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration with colleagues and academic leaders
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in education, mathematics, or other relevant field
  • Five years of teaching experience in an independent high school setting
  • Experience teaching other subject areas, including science or other STEM courses
  • Experience in an all-girls educational environment
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to walk up and down three flights of stairs daily
  • Ability to drive and/or ride in school-owned vehicles
