Job Summary

The Arc of Southside is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Specialist to join our team. As a Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and Enablement: Provide support and guidance to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to develop and maintain life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
  • Community Integration: Assist individuals in integrating into their communities, promoting socialization and participation in leisure activities.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement behavioral support plans and provide guidance and support to individuals, as defined by their Individual Support Plan.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, providing crisis intervention and support as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, with experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to work effectively in a team, present self professionally, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ascend and descend stairs, and sit, stand, and walk for periods of time throughout a shift.
