Job Summary

The Virginia Department of Social Services is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Support Enforcement Specialist to join our team. As a Support Enforcement Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that child support payments are made to families across the Commonwealth.

As a program agent for assigned child support cases, you will engage with families to ensure they receive the financial and family support they need to thrive. Your duties will include locating non-custodial parents, establishing paternity, determining and assessing child support obligations, and ensuring compliance with child and/or medical support orders.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities
  • Locate non-custodial parents and establish paternity
  • Determine and assess child support obligations and health care coverage
  • Ensure compliance with child and/or medical support orders
  • Provide testimony in court proceedings when required
  • Manage a substantial caseload in volume and complexity
Requirements
  • Ability to analyze and determine the appropriate action to achieve results
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child support enforcement
  • Experience in case management or gathering and organizing client documentation
