Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Radiologist, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist independently performs a variety of routine and complex nuclear medicine scans utilizing radiopharmaceuticals for the purpose of evaluating and diagnosing abnormalities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Radioactive Material Handling: Responsible for receipt, storage, handling, and use of radioactive material doses.
  • Diagnostic Imaging: Administers diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals, reviews physician orders, and collects patient history.
  • Imaging Procedures: Performs imaging procedures on a gamma camera and post-processing functions.
  • Quality Control: Conducts quality control testing on the camera, dose calibrator, room, and survey meters.
  • Patient Coordination: Coordinates patient information with PACS and EMR to save data and radiation dose.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Coordinates with vendors for service and notifies manager with any equipment issues.
  • Additional Duties: Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: One year of experience preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified in BLS or CPR, certified by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency in Nuclear medicine, and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
  • Skills and Abilities: IV access and radiation safety protocols.
