Job Summary:

New River Community College, a comprehensive community college located in the New River Valley of Virginia, is seeking qualified adjunct faculty members to teach various day, night, and online courses. As a member of our faculty, you will have the opportunity to work closely with students and contribute to their academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of courses, including but not limited to, Accounting, Art, Biology, Business Management, Chemistry, Computers, Economics, Engineering, English, Geography, Health, History, Math, Music, Physical Education, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sign Communications, Sociology, Spanish, Speech, and Statistics.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and assessments to meet the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students, including office hours and online support.
  • Stay current with developments in their subject area and incorporate best practices into their teaching.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the subject being taught for most teaching areas.
  • A bachelor's degree and experience in teaching the listed courses, with a master's degree preferred, for certain subject areas.
  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years' occupational experience for teaching fields such as Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Architecture, Automotive, Blueprint Reading, Drafting and Design, Electricity, Electronics and Machine.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and industry-recognized credentials for the teaching field of Welding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in a higher education environment.
