Position: Progressive Care Registered Nurse
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Progressive Care Registered Nurse is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of care for adolescent and adult patients with a focus on cardiac conditions. This role includes assisting with specialized procedures and overseeing the care provided by other staff members within the department. The nurse will also manage patients in a designated stroke unit and accommodate medical-surgical overflow patients as needed. Additionally, the nurse will provide recovery care for patients following cardiac catheterization and other special procedures, as well as for those receiving intravenous vasoactive medications.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must complete cross-training and demonstrate competency in Step-down Nursing within one year.
- ACLS certification is required within one year of employment and must be maintained throughout the duration of the position.
- NIH stroke certification must be completed within six months and maintained while in the role.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Ability to interpret and operate cardiac monitoring equipment, identify normal and abnormal rhythms, and implement appropriate interventions as necessary.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
The nurse should demonstrate proficiency in caring for step-down patients, including those on vasoactive medications, within one year of completing orientation.
Work Schedule: Full Time, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week; 7 PM to 7 AM with every third weekend.
