MedStar Health is seeking a skilled CPC Certified Coder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of coding experience and a strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and other patient classification schemes.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Abstract and ensure accuracy of diagnoses, procedure, patient demographics, and other required data elements.
* Contact physicians when conflicting or ambiguous information appears in the medical record, adhering to the MedStar Coding Query Policy and procedure.
* Meet established Quality and Productivity standards as defined by policies.
* Resolve all quality reviews timely, including medical necessity reviews, coding quality assurance reviews, and external vendor reviews.
* Review medical record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures, assigning correct diagnostic, procedural codes, and appropriate modifiers using standard guidelines and maintaining departmental accuracy standards.

**Requirements:**

* High School Diploma or GED required
* Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
* Associate degree or bachelor's degree in coding related studies preferred
* Courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, ICD-CM required and CPT-4 preferred
* 1-2 years coding experience and experience with clinical information systems (3M grouper, electronic medical records, computer assisted coding) preferred

**About the Role:**

This is a full-time position with a hybrid schedule, including working remotely on Mondays and Fridays and working on-site Tuesday through Thursday. The business office is located in Elkridge, Maryland.
