Job Description:
The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking an Intern to support the Department's publications and media relations efforts. Typical initiatives include contributing to outreach and communication efforts related to transportation projects and programs.

Responsibilities:
- Drafting content for Department publications, social media sites, and webpages
- Assisting with media relations activities, including drafting press releases, and maintaining the Department's database of reporters
- Assisting with webpage design and reviewing webpages for quality control and accessibility
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of editorial calendar for communications projects
- Assisting with daily searches for transportation-related news articles
- Researching new opportunities and best practices for expanding traditional print and online publications
- Assisting with the maintenance of the transportation library and digital assets
- Serving as a representative of NCTCOG's goals and mission
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Outlook; knowledge of Microsoft Teams desired
- Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented, organized, creative, and possess ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines
- Knowledge of HTML and content management systems desired
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Required Experience:
- Must be attending an accredited college or university during employment
- Pursuit of a degree in a related field desired
- No work experience required; at least one year of school-related experience desired
