Job Summary

The City of Burien is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to lead its financial operations and fiscal planning functions. As the City's Chief Financial Officer, this individual will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to ensure the City's financial stability and growth.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports, including the annual budget and financial statements.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to City departments and management.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal financial regulations and laws.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including financial institutions and auditors.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of financial professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality financial services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Seven years of increasingly responsible professional public sector experience in accounting, budgeting, or fiscal management, including five years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
