Human Resources Business Partner Intern

The HR Business Partner role at Gulf Island is responsible for aligning HR objectives with employees and management in designated business units.

The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees, reflecting the organization's business objectives.

The HR Business Partner maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business, able to engage with business leaders, apply effective HR practices to drive employee retention, and deliver value-added HR programs.

Key responsibilities include managing and resolving employee relations issues in partnership with HR leadership, maintaining in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The HR Business Partner provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management, including providing HR policy guidance and interpretation, preparing and assisting with HR market data and workforce data requests, and administering employee benefits such as Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Paid Holidays, Disability Insurance, and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of human resources experience in oil and gas, with expertise in employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, and SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification is a plus.

The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional outdoor activities required as part of the role, including yard tours and job site visits. Gulf Island will not sponsor applications for work visas, and applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
