Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is an integral part of the healthcare team, providing high-quality patient-centered care by performing various delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by delivering direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses.
  • Collect and record initial and ongoing patient information, including vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other relevant data as outlined by hospital policy.
  • Assist patients with mobility, transferring them safely and efficiently, and provide support with using walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs.
  • Contribute to specimen collection for diagnostic or waived tests, ensuring accuracy of labels and timely transfer of specimens.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination, and change bed linens as needed.
  • Monitor and Telemetry Tech duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements:
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
