Job Summary

A Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert who supports the scientific and business objectives of a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle. As a key communicator of AbbVie science, the MSL will develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, providing education on disease states, therapeutic landscapes, and AbbVie products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute high-impact territory plans, including HCP and investigator engagement plans, in alignment with therapeutic area medical and scientific objectives.
  • Identify, gain access to, and develop professional customer-centric relationships with external experts in therapeutic areas within assigned geography.
  • Deliver on territory plan objectives, meet assigned project deadlines, and achieve annual functional goals, generating and documenting meaningful data point observations.
  • Practice core capabilities in segmentation, data point observations, and optimal resource utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures, including accurate and timely documentation of HCP interactions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a health science from an accredited university, with advanced degree preferred in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Greater than or equal to 2 years of clinical, scientific/research, or industry-related experience or equivalent.
  • Problem-solving and analytic skills to identify and translate specific territory and corporate needs into action.
  • Leadership attributes that align with company-wide initiatives, such as All for One AbbVie, Clear and Courageous, Make Possibilities Real, Agile and Accountable, and Decide Smart and Sure.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply foundational skills in scientific storytelling, identifying mobilizers, medical challengers, and active listening.
  • Meet healthcare industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations within assigned territory.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
