Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Police Cadet. As a Police Cadet, you will be responsible for providing basic law enforcement services to an assigned area under the direction of a Field Services Sergeant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide law enforcement services to an assigned area, including patrol, crime prevention, and investigation.
  • Respond to emergency calls and take appropriate action to ensure public safety.
  • Conduct traffic stops and issue citations as necessary.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives to build relationships with the public and promote trust.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share information and coordinate efforts.
Requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age by graduation from the academy.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and obtain a New Mexico (Class D) driver's license within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass the Police Entry-Level Written Examination and other required examinations and assessments.
  • No felony convictions.
  • No misdemeanor convictions within the last three (3) years.
  • No DWI convictions within the last five (5) years.
  • No use of illegal drugs within the last two (2) years.
  • No use of felony-type drugs within the past five (5) years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in law enforcement or a related field.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies related to law enforcement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions.
