Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a key member of our Police Department, you will be responsible for enforcing laws and ensuring compliance with University policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce local, state, and federal laws and ensure compliance with University policies.
  • Provide security for personnel, real property, and equipment.
  • Investigate and document crimes/incidents, document and preserve evidence, and provide legal testimony.
  • May be assigned to any shift; may perform campus patrol or serve as substation, victim/witness assistance, or crime prevention officer.
Requirements
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Must maintain certification status.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the POA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited law enforcement academy; no previous experience required.
  • Certification/Licensure: State of New Mexico Certified Law Enforcement Officer, or eligibility for Certification by waiver.
