Position Overview:
The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of a comprehensive fleet maintenance program, aimed at maintaining vehicles in a safe and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and minor repairs of transit service vehicles.
- Develop and implement work schedules based on preventative maintenance requirements, utilizing budgetary constraints and personnel resources as directed by upper management.
- Create and maintain a vehicle tracking and fleet maintenance portfolio to ensure cost-effective fleet management.
- Ensure all vehicle documentation, including registration and insurance, is up-to-date and stored within the vehicles as necessary.
- Monitor and report weekly on all maintenance issues and potential risks to upper management.
- Review driver records to promote safe driving practices and identify any safety concerns.
- Provide training for drivers and maintenance personnel on proper pre-trip and post-trip inspection protocols, including the completion of Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
- Assess DVIRs for accuracy and address any noted issues promptly.

Vendor Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with local repair vendors to ensure cost-effective repair and service options.

Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and FTA regulations.
- Maintain a clean and professional working environment within the shop or facility.
- Report any incidents, spills, or safety concerns to management as required.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in maintaining diesel and heavy-duty vehicles.
- ASE certification as a diesel/heavy truck mechanic or the ability to obtain such certification.
- Valid CDL class B with Air-brake Testing or the ability to obtain.
- Experience in tracking parts, inventory, vendors, and suppliers.
- Proficient in computer skills, including word processing, data entry, and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to obtain a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A college degree.
- Previous management experience in fleet maintenance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ADA, DOT, and FTA regulations.
- Experience supervising hourly personnel.
- Hands-on training experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to understand and enforce disciplinary measures.
- Knowledge of basic safety and training procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and timeliness.
- Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Salary Range:
- Minimum Salary: $70,000
- Maximum Salary: $80,000
This reflects the base salary range for this position based on current national market data. Actual pay may vary based on individual skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
