Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a skilled Field Claims Professional to handle insurance claims in the field under general supervision. This role involves investigating, evaluating, and resolving claims, as well as providing service to agents, insureds, and others to ensure claims are resolved accurately and timely.
Key Responsibilities- Investigation and Evaluation: Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate the amount of loss, and analyze legal liability.
- Claims Handling: Handle multi-line property and casualty claims in an assigned territory with an emphasis on property claims.
- Insurance Knowledge: Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying insurance policies, endorsements, and forms.
- Resolution and Payment: Work toward the resolution of claims, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary, and ensure that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
- Investigations: Handle investigations by phone, mail, and on-site investigations.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or direct equivalent experience handling property and casualty claims, with a minimum of 3 years handling multi-line property and casualty claims with an emphasis on property claims.
- Skills and Abilities: Above average communication skills (written and verbal), ability to resolve complex issues, organize and interpret data, handle multiple assignments, effectively deal with a diverse group of individuals, accurately deal with mathematical problems, and possess a valid driver's license.
