Job Title: Vice President Operations

About the Role:

The Vice President of Operations will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the operational aspects of our business. This includes ensuring the efficient and effective management of all operational functions, with a focus on enhancing productivity, minimizing costs, and delivering exceptional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and implement strategic plans and initiatives to drive operational excellence and achieve business objectives.
  • Manage day-to-day operations across all departments, including transportation, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management.
  • Optimize operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Implement best practices and industry standards to streamline operations and minimize costs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and support to department heads and operational staff to help them achieve their goals and excel in their roles.
  • Establish robust performance metrics and reporting mechanisms to track progress against operational goals and objectives.
  • Analyze operational data and metrics to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other external partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to optimize cost savings and service levels.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and make recommendations for improvements or changes as needed.
  • Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the operational process and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Implement robust risk management practices to safeguard the company's assets, reputation, and financial performance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that may impact operations.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in senior leadership roles within the transportation and logistics industry.
  • Understanding of transportation and logistics operations, including freight management, warehousing, and distribution.
  • A track record of driving operational excellence, cost savings, and process improvements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action.
  • A customer-focused mindset with a focus on delivering exceptional service.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to change.

Location: This is an in-office role based in Fullerton, CA. Approximately 25% travel is anticipated.
