Job Overview:

As a key member of our healthcare team, the Nurse Supervisor is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families. This role involves providing guidance to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistants, ensuring that nursing tasks are delegated in accordance with legal and regulatory standards as well as organizational policies. The Nurse Supervisor will utilize sound judgment in executing medical orders and will serve as the primary caregiver for patients.

Core Responsibilities:

- Deliver professional nursing care while overseeing nursing tasks assigned to nursing assistants and providing direction to LPNs as necessary.
- Implement the nursing process to ensure effective patient care.
- Execute tasks that require nursing expertise, judgment, and skills.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Educate LPNs and nursing assistants on specialized nursing tasks.
- Assess and verify the competency of staff to perform specialized nursing duties.
- Assume accountability for the quality of nursing care provided, especially when delegating tasks to nursing assistants.
- Act as the primary nurse and total patient caregiver.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for nursing staff.
- Take on charge responsibilities as assigned.
- Integrate the core values and vision of Kaiser Permanente into nursing practice.
- Accept additional responsibilities as assigned within the scope of nursing practice.

Qualifications:

Experience:
- N/A

Education:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Licenses and Certifications:
- Basic Life Support or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification.
- Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required upon hire.

Additional Requirements:
- Proven skills in adaptability, decision-making, customer service, interpersonal relations, and effective communication.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a specialized area or completion of a formal course in the specialty within a designated timeframe after hiring.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- One year of experience or completion of a formal course in a specialized area.
- Coursework in basic EKG.

Work Schedule:
- Part-time position with a commitment to providing care during nights and weekends.
