Job Summary:

As a Hospital Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will work under the indirect supervision of a Unit Supervisor and the direction of licensed staff to perform a variety of non-professional patient care duties in an inpatient hospital setting. You will be responsible and accountable for assigned tasks, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with ongoing data collection, identifying changes in patient status and reporting them to RN/LPN, and implement care plans under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Demonstrate technical competence in basic nursing skills and the use of simple equipment, adhering to Department/Unit/JCAHO standards.
  • Demonstrate basic competencies to work on specialty units, providing exceptional patient care.
  • Record data and nursing care activities in medical records, following Department/Unit/JCAHO standards.
  • Utilize Department and Unit forms per procedures, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Function with awareness of and apply safety principles and standards, including patient, environment, and employee issues.
  • Report incidents, work-related injuries, unsafe equipment, or environment to the supervisor or other appropriate person.
  • Function with awareness of and apply infection control principles and standards, including patient, environment, and employee issues.
  • Report pertinent patient data and problems to licensed staff, charge nurse, or supervisor.
  • Assist as directed during Code 500 (Chest compression and runner to lab).
Requirements:
  • Hospital Aide Training Program or documented completion of equivalent military training course; or equivalent combination of education (lesser) and experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.
  • Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire from American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year Hospital Aide experience.
