Job Summary

Seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to lead our School Age and Camp programs at the Community YMCA. As the School Age Director, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating high-quality programs that promote member safety and engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage and direct the early learning programs, ensuring high-quality services and establishing new program activities.
  2. Implement Keystone STARS, DHS, and CYEDC requirements, and ensure compliance with state and local regulations.
  3. Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed, and review and evaluate staff performance.
  4. Develop and manage budgets related to the position, ensuring program operations within budget and collecting program fees.
  5. Provide strong classroom management skills and treat each child with respect.
  6. Visit classrooms regularly to provide support, visibility, and ensure programs are functioning at high-quality levels.
  7. Assure compliance with state and local regulations, and ensure that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with state childcare licensing agency, school administration, parent groups, and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  9. Provide staff leadership for annual fund-raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  10. Maintain proper records/department files, and organize special events for parents.
  11. Compile program statistics, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
  2. One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.
  3. Minimum 2 years (2500 hours) documented child care related experience.
  4. Minimum age of 21.
  5. Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 15 days of hire.
  6. Completion of required trainings.
  7. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Physical Demands
  1. Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise children's activities.
  2. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
  3. Able to lift and carry 15-50 lbs.
  4. Must be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.
