About the Role:
As a Peer Support Specialist-Psychiatric Emergency Services at Nebraska Medicine, you will play a vital role in upholding our promise to patients and their families. This is a part-time position, requiring 16 hours of work per week, with a flexible schedule that allows you to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

Key Responsibilities:
Contribute your lived experience and perspective to the rehabilitative and recovery process.
Facilitate effective system navigation, empowerment, hope, resiliency, voice, and choice for individuals and their families.
Provide person-centered services that promote self-directed recovery and support self-advocacy and empowerment through interventions that emphasize safety, self-worth, growth, connection to community, planning, and social supports.

Requirements:
High school education or equivalent required.
Certificate of successful completion of Nebraska-approved Peer Support Core Curriculum Training required.
Self-identifies as having lived experience as an individual with a mental health/substance use disorder or as a parent/caregiver to a child with a mental health/substance use disorder required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated successful full or part-time, paid or voluntary work experience within the past 12 months preferred.
Post-secondary education preferred.
Certified Peer Support Wellness Specialist (CPSWS) or Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) in accordance with the certification described by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health preferred.
