Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer - Optronics

At RTX, we are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Optronics team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and testing precision optical assemblies and visual display systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop custom tooling and fixtures for optical systems
  • Lead product prototype development and testing
  • Prepare technical documentation, including CAD models, drawings, and procedures
  • Contribute to bid and proposal efforts
  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree
  • U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations
  • Knowledge of core concepts of mechanical engineering, including thermodynamics, electronics, engineering design, tolerance analysis, and structural analysis
  • Strong computer skills and experience with SolidWorks, CREO, or NX CAD software
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Visual displays, opto-mechanical, or electro-optics experience
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Proficient with hand tools and light power tools
  • Experience working as part of a team to solve technical problems
