Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Social Worker to join our team at Onslow County, NC. As a key member of our social services department, you will be responsible for providing protective social work services to clients in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive social work services to clients in serious and complicated cases, utilizing a wide range of social work skills and intervention techniques.
  • Conduct in-depth assessments of family dynamics and needs, and develop appropriate service/treatment plans to address these needs.
  • Investigate allegations of neglect or abuse, and conduct fitness for permanency placement investigations.
  • Manage a caseload of clients in the most difficult and complex cases, and conduct case management to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Provide accurate assessments to identify needs and establish appropriate service/treatment plans for clients, and may provide supportive/directive counseling to clients and families.
  • Serve as an inter/multi-disciplinary team member, referring clients for services to meet financial, psychological, emergency care, emotional or other needs.
  • Provide information to and confer with schools, natural parents, and foster parents on habilitation plans, behavior management, and other problem areas or needs.
  • Conduct interviews and home visits to verify information, conduct assessments, and evaluate service/treatment plans.
  • Assist with intake interviews, conduct background checks, and analyze client medical information for work capacity where applicable.
  • Facilitate or develop community or service resources and/or develop volunteer programs.
  • Perform assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
  • Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to individual casework, group work, and community problems.
  • Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic, and behavioral problems and associated treatment.
  • Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies that govern the program.
  • General knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and their treatment.
  • Skill in establishing rapport with clients and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of client's problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors, members of the case load, and their families, and with civic, medical, social, and religious organizations.
  • Ability to train or instruct lower-level social workers, students, or interns.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, and to plan and execute work.
