Position Overview

The Radiology Department at Connecticut Children's offers a comprehensive range of imaging services and minimally invasive image-guided interventions, playing a crucial role in the clinical operations of our facility. We are committed to enhancing image quality and ensuring a positive experience for patients and their families, while addressing the specific needs of our pediatric population and minimizing radiation exposure and the use of sedation or anesthesia. Our dedicated teams, comprising skilled technologists, sonographers, nurses, practitioners, and physicians, work collaboratively to provide the highest standard of care for our young patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates proficiency in patient care and imaging techniques specific to neonatal and pediatric patients. Reviews imaging orders for completeness and accuracy, engaging patients, parents, and caregivers in the care process. Clearly communicates role and procedure details, allowing time for questions.
  • Utilizes departmental resources and collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure timely and accurate execution of imaging exams. Communicates any changes or variations in requested exams to relevant parties and provides support across various departmental functions as needed.
  • Conducts diagnostic and CT imaging exams daily across all areas of the organization, including emergency, operating rooms, clinics, and inpatient units. May be required to provide services at off-site locations. Ensures all images meet high diagnostic quality standards, including appropriate shielding and exposure factors.
  • Mentors and trains new technologists, student technologists, and Radiology Residents in essential radiologic technology skills. Assesses their knowledge and skills, providing feedback to department and program coordinators. Proficiently operates CR, RIS, PACs, and other relevant systems, ensuring accurate data transfer and documentation.
  • Performs additional related duties as necessary.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Radiologic Technology program. Board eligibility and adherence to ARRT standards for licensure in the State of Connecticut are mandatory.
  • Obtaining Computed Tomography board certification within the first year of employment.
Preferred Experience:
  • Prior experience in a pediatric setting is advantageous.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Registered Technologist R.T. certification from ARRT.
  • Current Radiographer License from the State of Connecticut.
  • Certification in Computed Tomography.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Competency in providing care to patients of diverse backgrounds and needs.
