This position operates within a clearly defined set of guidelines and procedures, requiring minimal oversight.Detailed Responsibilities
Address challenges and respond to queries from senior clerks, clients, and other stakeholders. Assess, validate, and manage a variety of complex documents, data, reports, and other materials necessitating specialized expertise. Gather, input, and reconcile data, funds, or inventories while preparing necessary reports. Employ department-specific and county-wide specialized and general computer systems for data access, input, retrieval, purchasing, inventory management, etc. May assist supervisors in training personnel and conducting quality control tasks to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
Maintain a diverse array of files and records, releasing information in accordance with the county's policies while ensuring confidentiality of records.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsCompletion of an accredited high school or GED program. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience or 45 hours of college coursework, or a combination of both. Experience in a customer service setting is advantageous. Proficiency in typing at least 35 words per minute or 70 keystrokes per minute, along with familiarity with computer applications and standard word processing software.
Ability to comprehend and execute written and verbal instructions, organize and process tasks, and establish and maintain effective working relationships while delivering excellent customer service to other county employees and the public.
May require extended periods of sitting, walking, or standing, and the capability to lift files, boxes, and documents weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Candidates for all clerical, administrative, and secretarial roles will be required to complete and pass at least one skills assessment, determined by the Elected Official or Department Head based on the position and operational requirements.
Assessments may include one or more of the following: 10-key, Coding, Data Entry, Filing, Grammar, Math, MS Excel, MS Word, Proofreading, Spelling, Sorting, and Timed Typing (3 minutes).
