Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Classroom Teacher-Kindergarten to join our team at Berrien County Schools Consortium. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating day-to-day management and instruction of students as directed by the Administrator and the Academy Board.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Articulate a plan of instruction in accordance with the MDE benchmarking, utilizing food, agriculture, renewable resources, and environmental (FARE) themes, and integrating technology throughout the curriculum.
  • Classroom Management: Create a classroom curriculum that facilitates instruction, establish procedures and classroom rules, and communicate oral and written administrative action to parents and Administrator.
  • Communication: Communicate expectations to students, evaluate and communicate student progress to parents on a regular basis, and communicate volunteer needs to parents.
  • Leadership: Provide guidance and direction to Paraprofessionals on a regular basis, evaluate Paraprofessional performance, and assist in an "action plan" for improvement if needed.
  • Total Learning Environment: Carry out the policies adopted by the Academy Board as interpreted by the Administrator, monitor the safety of all children, and monitor the appropriateness of computer use in accordance with an acceptable use policy.
Requirements
  • MI Teaching Certification, Out of State Teaching Certification, or the ability to obtain a Teaching Permit.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to work with urban and rural youth in a diverse population.
  • Experience with developing a thematic interdisciplinary curriculum.
  • Experience with hands-on/minds-on teaching.
  • Understand how information technology can be integrated into curricula.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Must pass state and federal criminal background check.
