About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Adult Education ESL Instructor to join our team at Kinexus Group. As a key player in our Adult Education Team, you will play a vital role in supporting English Language Learners in their pursuit of obtaining GEDs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach ESL courses using instructional methods tailored to the adult learner in a one-on-one, small group, and/or classroom setting.
  • Develop lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students to increase English language skills.
  • Implement a variety of instructional delivery methods to help students make learning gains.
  • Complete and maintain student attendance, records, and ensure timely data entry in accordance with the MAERS User Manual.
  • Provide assistance and support to learners in the learning lab and by connecting learners to our online learning platform.
  • Be motivational and inspiring to learners along their educational journey.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date on all documentation for local, state, and federal levels.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with learners to support retention efforts.
  • Support non-ESL students, when needed.
  • Assist in the development of academic and other resources to enhance the program and adult learner success.
  • Assist with participant outreach efforts to attract English Language Learners.
Requirements
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Certified to teach ESL
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Familiarity with literacy programs, testing, and specific needs of adult learners
  • Strong ability to teach literacy skills in both one-on-one to small group instruction
  • Three years classroom teaching experience and/or case management experience
  • Computer skills, experience with online learning platform, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Efficient interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
