This position involves direct interaction with various individuals within the facility and requires adherence to essential hygiene and infection control protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain Cleanliness Across Assigned Areas:

  • Perform thorough cleaning and disinfection of designated patient care spaces promptly.
  • Follow organizational safety and infection control standards while fostering a culture of safety.
  • Deliver clean linens to specified locations and monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Dispose of waste appropriately and recognize the correct waste management procedures.
  • Consistently uphold departmental standards and contribute to readiness for inspections.

Efficient Use of Chemicals and Supplies:

  • Utilize chemical dispensing systems according to manufacturer guidelines and accurately log usage.
  • Restock supplies in storage areas and carts at the conclusion of each shift.
  • Request supplies from the Materials Management department following established protocols.

Operate Departmental Equipment:

  • Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to Maintenance Services using the designated request system.
  • Empty vacuum bags as necessary to maintain equipment efficiency.
  • Utilize equipment safely and in an organized manner.

Additional Duties:

  • Engage in special projects as assigned, based on departmental cleaning schedules.
  • Report fire and safety issues promptly, ensuring adherence to safety practices.
  • Respond to emergency spills quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure cleaning closets are secured and that cleaning carts are not left unattended in hallways.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • No prior experience required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to comprehend instructions and learn new cleaning methods.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality when necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
