Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Med/Surg department on a part-time basis. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Provide basic care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and transferring patients
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff
  • Assist with medical tasks, such as taking blood and using medical equipment
  • Ensure patients' rooms and care areas are clean and well-maintained
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with ADLs, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, and using the toilet
  • Deliver efficient and excellent care to all patients on the unit
  • Keep patient rooms and care areas clean and well-maintained
  • Turn or reposition bedridden patients
  • Answer patient call signals and determine their needs
  • Assist patients with eating and drinking
  • Undress, wash, and dress patients who are unable to do so themselves
  • Lift or assist others to lift patients to move them on and off beds
  • Supply, collect, or empty bedpans
  • Wash, groom, shave, or drape patients to prepare them for surgery, treatment, or examination
  • Work directly with the care team to deliver quality patient care
  • Communicate openly with team members about changes to meet the needs of patients and their families
  • Report pertinent observations or patient requests to the RN
  • Report any skin issues to the RN
  • Communicate with nurse about changes in patient care to meet the patients' needs
  • Assist nurse in operation of medical equipment or provision of patient care
  • Apply clean dressings, slings, stockings, or support bandages, under the direction of the nurse
  • Maintain unit order, cleanliness, and safety
  • Keep unit and patient rooms orderly and complete checklists to ensure stocking and unit maintenance is completed
  • Sends work orders as appropriate
  • Initiates additional cleaning as necessary without prompting
  • Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, examination rooms, and other patient areas
  • Restock patient rooms with personal hygiene items
  • Stock or issue medical supplies
  • Document or report observations of patient behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses or in EMR
  • Review patients' dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences to ensure patient receives appropriate diet
  • Observe or examine patients to detect symptoms that may require medical attention
  • Communicate with patients to ascertain feelings or need for assistance or social and emotional support
  • Responds to patient needs in a timely manner; demonstrates use of safety equipment
Requirements
  • Current WI Nurse Aide Registry required
  • BLS certification required
