Job Description

Empire Merchants North is a leading wine and spirits distributor in Upstate New York, with a rich history dating back to the end of Prohibition. With over 600 dedicated employees and state-of-the-art facilities, we have become synonymous with both service and quality, earning the loyalty of over 9,000 area restaurants, bars, hotels, nightclubs, and retail outlets.

We are seeking a high-energy, motivated Sales and Marketing Representative to join our team, responsible for maximizing the sales of supplier brands to the trade and consumer through effective territory planning, selling, merchandising, and communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Planning and Preparation:
    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve company and supplier objectives within assigned territories.
    • Analyze account data to determine priority selling and merchandising opportunities.
    • Prepare and present professional sales presentations to retailers, tailored to current supplier programs and customer needs.
    • Interact with supplier representatives, ADS, and promotional agency representatives to achieve objectives.
  • Selling:
    • Deliver effective sales presentations to achieve company and supplier objectives.
    • Stay up-to-date on company and competitive brand pricing, and all other pertinent information.
    • Follow the principles of our Sales Skills and Fundamentals Training.
    • Present the portfolio and current programs to increase sales and generate maximum revenue and case volume.
  • Marketing and Promotional Facilitation:
    • Attend on-premise promotions, product samplings, and other marketing events.
    • Coordinate with promotion agency representatives in respective territories.
    • Promote brands in accounts by facilitating wine and spirit dinners and events.
    • Advance company business by conducting and/or facilitating wait-staff trainings.
  • Merchandising:
    • Secure effective presentation of all brands represented in accounts, in accordance with company and/or supplier merchandising standards.
    • Install point-of-sale material within accounts.
    • Suggest shelf and cold box resets to achieve supplier and company standards.
    • Work towards ensuring proper rotation of our products in accordance with State and Federal law to sustain sales.
  • Record Keeping and Communication:
    • Maintain territory and account records in accordance with company policy.
    • Provide information and reports as directed.
    • Be proficient in all electronic tools, with proper training.
    • Keep management informed daily, on all aspects of their territory.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in the food/beverage industry is required; adult beverage experience preferred.
  • A clean, valid New York State Driver's License is required.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a valid NYS Solicitor's Permit.
