Job Title: Materials Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Technician to join our team at IRISNDT Inc. in Houston. As a Materials Technician, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory and field duties, including failure analysis, sample preparation, and testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct laboratory and field duties, including failure analysis, sample preparation, and testing.
  • Perform mechanical and metallurgical analysis tests, including photography, metallographic sample preparation, and chemical analysis using OES, XRF, and LIBS techniques.
  • Carry out corrosion tests and prepare reports with the results of all performed tests.
  • Complete Field Metallographic Replication (FMR) at customer sites and perform other duties as directed by company staff.
Requirements:
  • Diploma/degree in Materials Engineering Technology, Welding, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related post-secondary education with commensurate professional experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a plant/refinery setting and/or in heavy industry (Mining, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical) preferred.
  • Professional memberships, certifications, or affiliations (API, NACE, ASM, AWS) considered an asset.
