Job Title: Construction Materials Testing Technician

Thompson Engineering is seeking a skilled Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our team in Houston, TX.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the processing and testing of soil, asphalt, and concrete materials using company and client-specific guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Log in material samples and prepare them for processing, including weighing and drying each one.
  • Perform tests using appropriate ASTM methods and enter test data manually onto the proper forms.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and perform general maintenance on lab equipment.
  • Assist the Drilling and Construction Material Testing Departments as required by the Organization Supervisor.
  • Ensure quality in every step of the testing process and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure on-time and regular attendance.
Requirements:
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • General maintenance skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to learn and follow instructions.
  • ACI Level I or II certification required.
  • ACI Strength testing certification required.
  • Nuclear gauge certified required.
  • Six months experience in construction materials testing preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Stand in one place for 1 to 2 hours at a time.
  • Stoop and bend to perform equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE for hazardous materials.
  • Wear steel toe shoes as needed.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
