Established in 1948, the Bank was created to meet the banking needs of middle-income and underserved communities in New York City, operating seven full-service branches across Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. The Bank specializes in commercial real estate and small business loans, alongside a variety of complementary banking products and services.
Position Summary:
The AVP of Loan Servicing is tasked with the comprehensive oversight of Loan Servicing, which includes loan accounting and documentation management. The role encompasses the onboarding of loans, servicing both commercial and residential loan portfolios, and ensuring the accuracy of data within the core system. The individual will review and authorize the release of loan documents while monitoring insurance, property taxes, pending recording documents, and title policies. A background in loan accounting and commercial loan documentation is essential, with familiarity in Jack Henry Silverlake considered advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all facets of Loan Servicing, including loan boarding, reconciliation, billing, escrow management, SBA reporting, and documentation review.
- Provide regular guidance, training, and support to Loan Servicing personnel.
- Ensure daily and monthly balancing of the servicing system, resolving discrepancies in collaboration with the Accounting/Finance Department.
- Manage insurance requirements, including property, liability, UCC collateral, and flood insurance.
- Administer the servicing of all loan types, including syndicated and conventionally originated loans.
- Oversee the Bank's Escrow area and maintain relationships with third-party tax processing vendors.
- Handle payment processing, customer inquiries, loan draws, and ensure compliance with loan documentation requirements.
- Review booked loans for accuracy and assist with audit requests.
- Maintain positive relationships with borrowers, Loan Officers, and Title Companies to facilitate document requests.
- Monitor departmental performance to meet service level agreements and ensure adherence to procedures.
- Prepare monthly reports and manage negative escrow accounts.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant banking regulations and participate in policy development.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess extensive knowledge of loan servicing systems, FNMA and FHLB guidelines, and accounting principles. Proficiency in Jack Henry platforms, as well as familiarity with regulatory compliance, is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and excellent verbal and written communication capabilities. A four-year college degree or equivalent experience is necessary, along with proficient PC skills, including MS Office and front-end software systems. Experience in loan auditing, closing, and managing third-party vendor relationships is also preferred.
