About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Chemical Production Operator to join our team at Allied Reliability for a long-term Travel Contract Opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control process equipment and plant processes to ensure proper operation and product quality.
  • Identify and correct areas or equipment that need to be addressed for safety, cleanliness, process operability, or quality.
  • Communicate processes that require maintenance to ensure proper operation and prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Participate in plant continuous improvement programs to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, observe all company safety regulations, and work rules.
  • Perform quality control sampling of raw materials, in-process materials, and/or finished product.
  • Cross-train and/or be flexible to perform other Operator duties as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance duties as directed by Supervision.
  • Align operational activities and process performance with plant and business goals.
  • Perform routine/nonroutine housekeeping tasks to keep work areas clean and safe.
  • Demonstrate knowledge to read, interpret, implement, and instruct others in the use of industry codes, manuals, procedures, schematic diagrams, P&IDs, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Interact with others in a productive manner in a team environment.
  • Respond to immediate actions and manage unplanned events.
  • Apply and mentor advanced process and troubleshooting skills and knowledge.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process-related deviations/problems and maintain equipment reliability.
  • Understand and apply all Industrial Safety requirements in the assigned plants.
  • Initiate and participate in Root Cause Analyses as required.
  • Perform all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Safely operate pumps, compressors, reactors, distillation columns, and other plant equipment within safe operating ranges.
  • Make changes to the operating process necessary to maintain product quality.
  • Monitor the performance of plant equipment and process conditions.
  • Read flow meters and temperature and pressure gauges.
  • Take routine readings on process variables.
  • Operate Control Room instrumentation systems.
  • Draw samples of products from the process for laboratory testing.
  • Perform lab testing on some process streams.
  • Promptly respond to process alarms/constraints.
  • Startup/shutdown process equipment.
  • Prepare equipment for Maintenance.
  • Participate on Emergency Response Team (Firefighting).
Requirements
  • Previous Chemical plant, Refinery, or industrial experience.
  • OR, a 2-year associate degree in Process Technology WITH a minimum 2 years process operator experience in a petrochemical plant or refinery.
  • OR a Process Operator Basic Certification with minimum 2 years process operator experience in a petrochemical plant or refinery.
  • OR a high school diploma/GED with a minimum 5 years of process operator experience in a petrochemical plant or refinery.
  • OR a bachelors degree with a minimum 2 years of operations or maintenance experience in a petrochemical plant or refinery.
  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shift work schedule (including nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Currently possess or able to obtain a TWIC Card.
  • Must be able to read and communicate verbally and written using the English language.
  • Must be able to complete the requirements of the formal operator's training program.
  • Ability to climb, bend, lift, and perform a wide range of physical activities.
  • Ability to work at various heights; entry into confined spaces; work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to listen and follow instructions.
  • Ability to make process decisions involving troubleshooting and smooth operation of the plant, and hazard recognition.
