POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer plays a crucial role within the engineering team, reporting directly to the Maintenance Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for delivering maintenance engineering and mechanical support for various equipment within the assigned unit. The primary focus is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of both fixed and rotating machinery while adhering to Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols and enhancing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide ongoing maintenance engineering support for fixed and rotating machinery, particularly turbo machinery, including troubleshooting and repair planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by developing specifications and designs for enhancements to mechanical systems, such as pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards related to the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Contribute expertise to Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify underlying issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams and vendors for equipment repairs, spare parts acquisition, and new equipment procurement.
  • Develop and maintain the equipment Bill of Materials (BOM) within the maintenance management system.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental initiatives at the company and site level.
  • Act as a mechanical engineering resource for capital project teams, offering opportunities for professional development.
  • Mentor and assist maintenance technicians, fostering skill development and growth.
  • Serve as a key resource for the Mechanical Integrity Team.
  • Work alongside reliability engineering to enhance and sustain the equipment reliability program.
  • Engage collaboratively with manufacturing, process engineering, and maintenance teams to promote teamwork and inclusivity.
  • Act as a liaison with engineering contractors for projects, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing plant environment (chemical plant preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience specifying rotating equipment in a chemical plant setting.
  • Familiarity with ASME codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of API standards.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineer in Training or Professional Engineering License in good standing.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification.
  • Vibration analyst certification (Category 1 or higher).
  • Thermography or ultrasound certification (Level 1 or higher).
  • Machine Lubrication Analyst certification (Level 1 or higher).
  • Understanding of applicable RAGAGEPs, including API and ASTM standards.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) as per OSHA guidelines.
  • Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications.

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
