POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer plays a crucial role in the maintenance engineering sector, reporting directly to the Maintenance Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for providing mechanical engineering support and ensuring the effective operation of equipment within the assigned unit. The engineer's primary focus is to deliver technical expertise that promotes safe, reliable, and efficient operations of both fixed and rotating machinery while adhering to Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols and enhancing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver daily maintenance engineering assistance for fixed and rotating machinery, with a strong emphasis on turbo machinery, including troubleshooting and repair strategies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by developing specifications and designs for enhancements to mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards for the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Engage in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify underlying issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams and vendors for equipment repairs, spare parts, and new acquisitions.
  • Develop and maintain the equipment Bill of Materials (BOM) within the maintenance management system.
  • Support Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives at the company and site levels.
  • Act as a mechanical engineering resource for capital project teams, fostering professional growth and development opportunities.
  • Mentor and guide maintenance technicians, contributing to their skill enhancement and professional development.
  • Serve as a key resource for the Mechanical Integrity Team.
  • Work closely with reliability engineering to maintain and improve the equipment reliability program.
  • Collaborate effectively with manufacturing, process engineering, and maintenance teams to promote teamwork and inclusivity.
  • Act as the Reliability Engineering liaison with Engineering Contractors for projects, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing plant, preferably in a chemical plant.
  • At least 5 years of experience specifying rotating equipment in compliance with relevant standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of API standards.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineer in Training or Professional Engineering License in good standing.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).
  • Vibration analyst certification (Category 1 or higher).
  • Thermography or ultrasound certification (Level 1 or higher).
  • Machine Lubrication Analyst certification (Level 1 or higher).
  • Knowledge of applicable RAGAGEPs, including API and ASTM.
  • Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) OSHA regulations.
  • Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is required.
