About the Role

We are seeking an experienced structural engineer to join our dams and water resources consulting practice at GEI Consultants. As a key member of our team, you will work on designing new facilities, upgrading existing developments, evaluating safety, and assessing risks for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze new and existing concrete gravity dams, arch dams, buttress dams, spillways, powerhouses, intake towers, penstocks, dam gates, and similar structures for stresses, stability, and performance under extreme loads.
  • Develop and evaluate alternatives for new facilities and upgrades to existing projects.
  • Complete detailed design calculations and prepare design drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect ongoing dam and water resources construction projects for conformance with design requirements.
  • Participate in semi-quantitative risk analysis workshops.
  • Analyze and design other facilities as needed, including foundations, retaining walls, temporary works, and special structures.
  • Prepare formal written reports, give presentations, and participate in internal and client meetings.
  • Prepare scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
  • Oversee and review designs developed by staff engineers.
  • Mentor and promote technical development of staff engineers.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
  • 7 to 15+ years' experience in structural engineering related to dams and water resources structures.
  • Professional Engineer licensure or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire.
  • Experience with structural analysis software (SAP2000/STAAD/RISA/ANSYS, etc.) and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel on temporary assignments.
  • Willingness and ability to work in the field and in inclement weather.
